Obituary of Joy Curwin

Curwin, Joy Norine (Thibodeau) Entered heaven peacefully on Friday, December 09, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on November 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Dora (Craft) Thibodeau. Loving wife of the late Donald Curwin. Mom was an avid bingo and card player and liked to win at rummy 500. She loved going to drive-in bingo in Sussex during summer months. Her fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed long drives in the country with family. She could always be found with a pocketful of crossword tickets and she loved seafood and getting a treat from the Dairy Queen. She loved to take the wheel on boat rides and the rougher the waves, the better. She loved attending family get-togethers and looked forward to Christmas holidays each year. This year she will spend Christmas with Jesus and Dad who both held out stretched arms to her, to take her home. She will be sadly missed by her children, Carol (Frank) Mazerolle, David (Valerie), Dianne (David) Breau, Kathy (Rheal) Guimond, Paul (Kathy), Chris (Rosanne), Danny and Michelle; grandchildren, Shane, Angela, Tara (Phil), Trevor (Debbie), Tanya (Shawn), Terri Lynn (Jan), Linnea (Tim), Charlene (Charles), Jason, Josh (Katy), Jennifer, Sarah (Josh), Jessica (James), Jack and Luke; great-grandchildren, Emily, Daniella, Nicholas, Sophia, Dominic, Liam and Abigail; sisters, Shirley (Alfred) Bridges and Janet (Paul) Gillespie and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Betty Murray and brothers, Bernard, Leo, Georgie and Kenny Thibodeau. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Monday, December 12, 2011 and Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a reception at the Assumption Center following the service. Donations, in memory of Joy, may be made to the Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, the Joshua Group or a charity of the donor’s choice.
