White, Mary Rita (Rogers) It is with sadness we announce the death of Mary Rita (Rogers) White, which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice, Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Born in 1925, Mary Rita was the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Bradbin) Rogers and beloved wife of the late G.F. (Gunner) White. She is survived by daughters Mary Rose Higgins, Edmonton, Alberta and Lorna (Dan) MacDonald, Sydney, Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Laura (Jason) Frey, Caitlin Higgins, Patrick Higgins, great grandson Benjamin Frey, all of Edmonton; James, Charlotte and Tess MacDonald, all of Sydney; nephew, Neil (Ginny) White. Mary Rita was born and raised in the West Side and resided on Prince Street for most of her life before moving to the Chateau de Champlain. A graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy, she was a member of the Assumption Parish and she retired from the Saint John Regional Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards with her friends and the companionship of her animals over the years. The family would like to thank long time neighbors on Prince Street, Management and friends at the Chateau de Champlain for their support over the last year and the wonderful staff at Bobby’s Hospice for their compassion during the past two weeks. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701) visitation will take place on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. A private family interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery and there will be a reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the SPCA.
