Obituary of Rhona Carter

It is with sadness that the family of Rhona Florence Carter announces her death on May 26, 2011 in Fredericton with family at her bedside. Rhona was the wife of the late Harvey W. Carter and the daughter of the late James Byard Belyea and Mary Teresa (Arseneau) Belyea. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Rhona is survived by her son James (Hilarie) Carter; her grandchildren Erin (Darren) Hansen, Stephanie (Matthew) English, Melanie Randles, and Matthew Randles; great-grandchildren Elise and Olivia Hansen, Anna and Charlotte English, Isaiah and Joshua Randles; as well as her sister-in-law Fern Carter and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her husband and parents, Rhona was predeceased by her daughter Mary Jane Randles and her brother Ronald Belyea. Rhona was a life long resident of Saint John, except for the last seven months. She worked for the Department of National Revenue in the 30's and 40's. During the 60's and 70's, she worked in various capacities for the United Church in the Saint John area. She had a strong faith and was always prepared to help others. She was a reliable and caring friend and neighbor. Rhona was skilled at knitting, sewing, needlepoint and quilting and also enjoyed photography, baking, playing the piano and reading. She was an active member of the West Side Kirk United Church for many years and was a generous supporter of various charitable organizations. Rhona was a long-time member of the International Order of Kings Daughters and Sons, the Kirk Workers and the United Church Women. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Castle Funeral Home "Fallsview" Chapel. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, and a reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. The family would like to thank the staff at Shannex Thomas Hall Nursing Home in Fredericton for the care and compassion shown to Mom during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rhona's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
