Obituary of William Parent

It is with sadness that we announce the death of William Joseph Parent, husband of Reta (David), which occurred on October 2, 2011 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Ste. Anne de Madawaska on March 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Alphée and Homerine Parent. He will be remembered by his four sons Paul, Brian (Heather), Robert, and Keith; grandchildren Jessica, Christopher, Brandon, Alyssa, and Kyle; brothers Gerard (Patti), Conrad (Rachel), Norbert (Andrea), Jacques (Ginette), Arthur (Denise); sisters Edwina (Roger) Beaulieu, Irene (Elmer) Fortin, Gaetane (William) Dupere; sisters in law Doreen Sullivan, Lorraine Fox, Linda (Pat) Graham, and Diane (Dave) Young. Bill will also be missed by Erica Parent, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill was also predeceased by his brother Donald Parent. Bill was a loving, caring, and giving person. Loved by all and missed by all. Bill worked at Irving Pulp and Paper for 36 years, retiring in 1996 as a Head Operator in the Bleachery. He was very involved with the Knights of Columbus #6770, as a Fourth Degree Knight working at the breakfasts and bingo. Bill loved playing hockey and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He spent summers at Crystal Beach for 42 years where he enjoyed being with family and friends, and having special bonfires with his grandchildren. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Monday, October 3, from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 4, from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2011 at 12 noon at St Rose of Lima. A reception will follow at the Assumption Centre, and an interment at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Palliative Care Saint John Regional Hospital 3B North for their exceptional compassion during his time there. Donations in William’s name may be made to Bobby's Hope House or the Palliative Care Unit.
