Obituary of Marjorie McLaughlin

McLaughlin, Marjorie A. (Carter) 1936-2012 The family of Marjorie McLaughlin is deeply saddened to announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday June 12, 2012. Born in Frosty Hollow, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Josiah & Margaret (Tower) Carter. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Margaret, son-in-law Anthony Hardt and three 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Alex and Victoria who were the joy of her life. She will be missed by her sister, Marion Carter of Sackville, special sister-in-law and friend, Beverly Oagles of Grand Bay-Westfield, 3 brothers-in-law, Roy, Murray and Donald and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, one sister, Geraldine Weldon of Sackville and her loving husband Roger. Marjorie’s career as a Registered Nurse (SJGH Class of 1957) spanned many years in obstetrics and in later years she brought her gifts of joy, compassion and caring to the field of Geriatric Nursing until her retirement. Marjorie & her late husband Roger had a wide and wonderful circle of friends from those with life long memories to new friends that Marjorie had a knack for gathering. You could always count on an open door and an open cupboard. Marjorie loved to cook and bake and many of us will miss the thoughtful care packages she would prepare for us, always remembering each person’s particular favourite. A great sense of humour and a personality that always showed genuine caring and interest in others, created a circle of friends, extended family and honorary children for Marjorie. The concern and support of the wonderful group of special loved ones during her recent illness is a testament to her ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Greenwood Cemetery on Sand Cove Road, with reception to follow at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Donations, in memory of Marjorie, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
