Obituary of Catherine Goguen

The death of Catherine (Mullin) Goguen, wife of the late Joseph Edmund Goguen, occurred on January 25, 2012 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on April 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances (Given) Mullin. She is survived by her daughters Frances Kern, and Peggy (Bill) McSheffrey; son Mark (Lisa) Goguen; grandchildren Bill Burns, Bazin and Ashley Kern, Tyler, Mark, and Kyle McSheffrey, Joey and Colleen Goguen; sister Shirley Doucette. She will also be missed by 4 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Catherine was also predeceased by her brothers Joe Kane, Albert, and Arthur Mullin; sisters Frances Donnelley, Mary Moore, Theresa Donner; grandson Aaron McSheffrey, and special long life friend Mary Carton. Catherine grew up in Fairville on the city’s West Side and attended St. Rose and vocational school. Kay spent over 40 years in the hairdressing business working at Peggy’s Beauty Salon and out of her home. She was an avid bowler in her youth and travelled extensively in her later years, especially with the Fairville Gang. She will be sadly missed by her family, as well as the friends she made at Rocmaura during the last few years spending time together at Kay’s corner. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 27, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St Rose of Lima. The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, and reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. The family would like to thank the staff at Rocmaura Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to Mom during her stay. Donations in Kay’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
